Two more reseachers of HNG have passed their PhD thesis defense plans: João Gonçalves on "Integrated Identity and Context Management Architecture for Privacy-Enabled Context-Awareness" and Óscar Pereira on "A Framework for Bridging the Gap Between the Object-Oriented and the Relational Paradigms in Telecommunication Systems". The juri included two professors from FCTUC, Paulo Simões and Marco Vieira.

Two PhD researchers have successfully defended their PhD thesis plans: Rui Ferreira on "Name Resolution in the Internet: from function to valued service" and Daniel Corujo on "Communication Models for the Future Mobile Internet". The juries included Paulo Pinto from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Telemaco Melia from Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs.

HNG is the host of the 12º RTCM (Rede Temática de Comunicações Moveis).
Several researchers from both academia and industry will join us for a day in order to discuss our latests research achievements.
This edition will distinguish itself from previous editions through the presence of two demonstrator from projects 4Ward and C-Cast.

Dr. Augusto Neto, adjunt professor at the Informatics Institute (INF) of Federal Univercity of Goias (UFG), Goiania, Brazil, is on research at IT during this week, in order to improve the cooperation program firmer between IT and UFG. Prof. Augusto is integrated in projects as IT researcher, such as FP7 4WARD and C-CAST, and co-advises M.Sc and Phd students working on IT.

Sergio Figueiredo has presented the paper Over Provisioniong-Centric QoS-Routing Mechanism for the Communication Paradigm of the Future Internet 4WARD Proposal on the 3rd International Workshop On Future Multimedia Networking, Krakow, 17th June. This paper is a result of the work develolped within 4WARD Project, in an over-provisioning approach to abstract paths.

HNG was present in the "Workshop de Redes de Nova Geração" (Next Generation Networks Workshop) where Academia, Industry and National Organizations gathered in Aveiro to discuss this important and trending topic.
Rui Aguiar presented an academic view of what is a Next Generation Network.

Alfredo Matos and Rui L. Aguiar recently participated in 2010 edition of the IST Future Network & Mobile Summit, held in Florence - Italy, where they presented several HNG Publications.
 
Among the presented publications,we highlight "Identity Driven Mobility Architecture", "Cross Layer Privacy Support for Identity Management", "A 3GPP Open-ID Framework" and a joint SWIFT Publication "Security and Privacy Enablers for future Identity Management Systems", all of which are a direct result from the privacy and mobility work pursued within the SWIFT Project.
 
The participation was a success, leading to several fruitful discussions and feedback on current and future HNG work, within the European Comunity.

During the last week project C-Cast was present at the Future Network & Mobile Summit where it also held it's final review meeting.

During this week C-Cast presented publicly a demonstrator of it's selected scenarios. The demonstrator enabled visitors to experience with the advanced context aware platform and multiparty delivery mechanism developed in the project

A short dissemination video was also presented, showing the scenarios studied in C-Cast

Rui L. Aguiar has presented the on-going stage of the NET-FIT Network of Excellence, to the Secretary of State and the President of JNICT, under the framework of the CMU-Portugal Annual Conference. NET-FIT, the steering effort for the creation of a Future Internet Forum in Portugal, has now made some of its conclusions public.
