This MCS dissertation presents the development of a computer science platform based on the Web which aims at teaching how to read and write. Despite its main goal (teaching how to read and write), the strategy followed for the internal architecture of abcNet deserves special attention. abcNet presents an architecture that stresses the teacher responsibility by allowing him to create and plan the necessary contents to the teaching process. It is the teacher, through the configuration process of models, that in each instant and in each case that decides which methodology to be followed and which contents to apply. In this context, despite not being a new pedagogical principle, the implementation methodology is surely a significant advance in the CIT.
